Who I am

My name is Rob Laycock and I found out that I love blacksmithing and bladesmithing in 2017 when my wife “forced” me to take a class. I had been watching blacksmithing and knife making videos online for years and she finally had enough of all the talk and booked us a 2-day class with a local blacksmith. I was sore and unsure if I wanted to do it again, but a few months later, I got my second opportunity to forge at a local hammer-in. I decided then and there that I would build my own forge and start hammering hot steel on my own terms. I decided to take more blacksmithing classes and really get to know the craft before I ever forged my first blade. As a knife collector, you would think this would be hard, but I enjoyed waiting as I learned quite a bit about moving metal in ways that would assist me later. I finished my first knife in 2020 (I think) and now that is mostly what I make.
